Our Leadership
"People who work for United Way of Rhode Island have a passion for making an impact. All of us, no matter what our role, contribute to reducing need in our community. We support our employees through a formal system of coaching and, by doing so, we are contributing to the development of the next generation of leaders in our community."
- Anthony Maione, President & CEO of UWRI
Proof positive: United Way of Rhode Island is the “best” place to work
When employees at UWRI say that they are employed at one of the best places to work, they really mean it.
For the past four years, Providence Business News has declared the third largest nonprofit in the state as one of the Best Places to Work in R.I. It is easy to explain why the nonprofit continues to be singled out. Staff members all have in common a passion for helping people. They adore their jobs because they are dedicated to helping individuals improve their lives. There is across-the-board passion for the mission among those employed at UWRI.
In addition, anyone who works there will tell you that the benefits are great. There are 12 paid holidays (and half days before major holidays), two personal days, and generous vacation and sick time.
Money has been set aside for personal and professional development. Staff wanting to return to school can have a large portion of the tuition paid for by United Way. There are on-site in-service training days as well as lunch-and-learn sessions.
To keep the passion alive, United Way takes steps to ensure the staff feels a connection to the activities the organization supports. Several times a year each employee is expected to do hands-on work with one of our partners, which aligns with our impact areas of education, income and housing.
And that’s why UWRI keeps being named Best Place to Work in R.I.
