Whether you have an extra hour a week or one afternoon every few months, we’ve got you covered. Maybe you have a soft heart for seniors, or mad skills in event planning or managing social media? If you’ve been thinking lately about volunteering and don’t know where to start, take a few minutes to check out the listings on our statewide volunteer center.
United Way of Rhode Island’s Volunteer Center is a one-stop shop for anyone looking to volunteer. With hundreds of volunteer opportunities and more added weekly, a user-friendly dashboard makes it easy for individuals to get involved and make a difference. Searches can be done by volunteer role, upcoming events, or for a specific nonprofit organization. Potential volunteers can create user accounts and set individual preferences, which trigger notifications for new volunteer postings based on one’s interests. Participating nonprofits post and manage their volunteer needs and responses.
The volunteer center was previously managed by Serve Rhode Island. Earlier this winter, United Way stepped up when the site could no longer be maintained. Taking on the volunteer center ensures the continuation of a resource that has served local volunteers and the nonprofit community for more than a decade.
Annually, United Way manages more than 60 volunteer projects, engaging over 1,300 corporate, community and family volunteers.
