During April vacation, our Family Volunteer Day, Literacy Rocks! focuses on helping children fall in love with reading. Families of all sizes and ages join the fun of creating one-of-a-kind literacy kits that are donated to local children to help them build their own home libraries.
Each kit contains a new children’s book, as well as reading aids such as puppets, games, or other props inspired by the story. Families bring their favorite book to donate, and then have a blast creating the kits: each one becomes its own work of art.
Consider spending some time this April volunteering with your family, and join us in our efforts to encourage a love of reading for young Rhode Islanders.
