“In diversity there is beauty and there is strength.” — Maya Angelou
Join the Rhode Island Afterschool Network on Tuesday, April 23, and Tuesday, May 28, for a two-part series: Diversity and Inclusion.
The first session, “Cultures at Work: Perspective Workout,” focuses on multiculturalism. You’ll learn about fundamental attribution error, the U-curve of culture, shock, bias vs. discrimination, communication styles, high-context and low-context cultures, and the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity.
The second session, “Timely Response to Intercultural Incidents,” focuses on methods to reframe conflict. You’ll learn about activities to implement after intercultural incidents, individual action planning, and organizational guidelines for interculturally sensitive youth work.
Attendance at both sessions is recommended. Space is limited; register now to guarantee your spot.
