Good Neighbor Energy Fund Kick Off Breakfast

Helping Rhode Island families for 32 years.

Join United Way of Rhode Island on Wednesday, November 15, for the Good Neighbor Energy Fund (GNEF) Kick Off Breakfast. This free event celebrates the beginning of GNEF’s 2017-18 program by bringing our nonprofit, business, and public sector partners together.

For families struggling to pay their utility bills, having their heat turned off has repercussions far greater than suffering through cold, sleepless nights. Research shows that children living in households effected by energy insecurity have an increased risk of hunger, developmental problems, and frequent hospitalizations.

Since their founding in 1986, GNEF has helped 44,750 Rhode Island families stay warm by raising over $13.8 million to assist those experiencing financial hardships. In 2016 they raised $155,000, and look forward to helping even more families in the year ahead.
