The annual Children’s Book Drive is a collaborative effort between United Way of Rhode Island and Books Are Wings that engages local businesses, community organizations, individuals, and families to help foster a love of reading in children. In addition, it also encourages local children to build their own home libraries.
Last year, United Way of Rhode Island’s annual Children’s Book Drive resulted in the collection of 40,000 books — books that are now being enjoyed by the children who needed them most.
There are three ways to be involved:
- Host a collection drive in your community, church, or school.
- Donate books (encourage your family and friends to as well).
- Participate in our Day of Action by sorting, labeling, and packaging the books.
